When the pandemic hit, there was so much uncertainty about the future, and the impact was felt in unique ways by all fertility patients. As many of you know, early on, all clinics were instructed to stop all fertility treatments by ASRM.

The heartbreak was unbelievable. Not only were we faced with such unfathomable uncertainty as a society, but so many patients had their dreams put on hold mid-cycle. For some patients, it meant completely changing their treatments, and waiting. For others, especially those over 40 or those with existing health concerns, the pause caused fear that they might not be able to conceive with their own eggs. For all fertility patients, there was the limbo of not knowing if or when treatments would resume.

It was amazing to me that NBC reached out and asked if they could cover the stories of patients who had been thrown into limbo when all fertility treatments were frozen. Three brave patients and partners join me to share the impact that COVID has had on their journey. They shared their heartbreak and their anxiety with NBC. And, I’m honored that I was asked to weigh in on how I see the pandemic impacting patients from my own point of view, and what I think the future holds.

I hope you’ll tune in and watch this beautiful piece of journalism.

I know each patient will see a bit of themselves in the three patients (and partners). I hope this will start a larger discussion, and make you see that you’re not alone. We’re all in this together. And, I know I speak for so many fertility doctors when I say that I don’t want the pandemic to steal your joy. If you’re wanting to grow your family, reach out. We’re here to help and we won’t let this pandemic be the thing that stops you from stealing your dreams if we have anything to say about it.
